During the summer holidays 2020 I picked the task of finding an internship for 2021 back up. As I already had a more or less basic outline of what the websites look like where one can look for possibilities, I went back to these and started a quite general search. I was still not quite sure what exactly I would like to do, however after having successfully done the minor in "Sustainable Resource and Supply Chain Management" I knew that I was more interested in the environmental aspects of sustainability. This helped me with narrowing the target for what type of internship I was looking for quite a bit.
However, I was still a bit lost on the aspect of which country this internship should take place in. After consulting with my parents, some countrie possibilities were discarded since it would simply be too far away or questionable whether it would be financially feasible and acceptable. These were also certain aspects to consider, which I was aware of to some extent but not in too much depth. Meaning that the living expenses such as rent and groceries are more expensive in some countries than others. Other aspects that should also be considered include health care and insurance.
To me it somehow still felt quite early to apply for internships during July and August 2020. This was most likely due to companies not replying and finding more internships for the coming months of 2020 than 2021. I believe that the fact that companies were not replying is something that happens no matter at what stage, so I simply used it as an excuse to delay my search a month or two more, since this also made me rather unmotivated and gave me the feeling of being unsuccessful.
